Soon after the "publication" of the first issue of this newsletter, I was contacted by three employees of Thomson Consumer Electronics, manufacturers of Gemstar's next-generation Rocket and SoftBook Readers.  They were very interested in discussing libraries as a possible market for ebook readers and wanted some feedback.  After a very informative conference call, which lasted over an hour, Steve Mannheimer, from Thomson's Global Business Development- New Ventures, offered his email as a "Suggestion Box" for librarians, with the following caveat:  " I will be unable to respond at length (or even at all) to each letter, but please know that any and all suggestions will be much appreciated."  So, if you have some ideas as to how the Gemstar readers could be made more "library-friendly," possible pricing schemes, etc., please forward them to Steve Mannheimer at  mailto:mannheimers@tce.com.
