Dynamic eBooks

Scholastic Inc. has released its 3rd ebook title as a promotional marketing tool for its Dear America series. The title, A Time for Courage: The Suffragette Diary of Kathleen Bowen by Kathryn Lasky, is currently available as a free ebook (Adobe format) and will be published in print in March. The ebook, which will expire one year after download, takes full advantage of its digital format. Icons along the margins indicate links to a glossary of terms (i.e. suffrage movement, Great War), a gallery of photographs, primary source documents (Declaration of Independence) and an audio file of Sojourner Truth's speech "Ain't I a Woman". The main text is followed by interactive discussion guides and quizzes.

The last promotional ebook from Scholastic, The Mayflower Project by K.A. Applegate received more than 35,000 downloads. For more information and the download, go to http://www.scholastic.com/dearamerica/ebook/index.htm

Time Warner Audiobooks and the Cutting Corporation have partnered in an exploration of "Audio of the Future." To this end, the collaboration has created a multimedia version of William Blake's Tyger, Tyger, which can be played on PDAs and PCs. The free download is available at http://www.mytimewarneraudio.com/twab_audio_future.html
