Academic eBook Project at the Big 10

The Chronicle of Higher Education reported that the eleven universities of the Big 10 and the University of Chicago have joined in an ebook publishing ventures. Although the details of the project have not been worked out, the overall goal is for the university presses to offer all of their titles in ebook form. The participating universities would have access to the titles free of charge through the joint online catalog currently shared by the group. Other institutions would pay a fee for access. A draft plan for the project is expected in June 2002.

It is important to note that project will be undertaken as a joint effort by the academic libraries and university presses of each institution.
