eBooks for the Disabled:
New eBook Accessibility Column

Knowbetter.com is hosting a new column about ebooks and accessibility. The column's author is Kestrell, a blind student at the University of Massachusetts. Her first column, "The Issue of Accessible Ebooks: Bringing Digital Literature to Everyone," describes screen readers and their short-comings. She recommends Microsoft's MS Reader, although was frustrated by the "Premium Content" that was blocked from text-to-speech use by the DRM. She also recommends several books that highlight adaptive technologies and explain the role of accessibility within website design.
