netLibrary Adopts Adobe Content Server

netLibrary has announced that it intends to make its ebook collection compatible with the Adobe's Content Server. Within the Content Server is a library ebook lending module (see past newsletter article for more details). The partnership between netLibrary and Adobe will permit offline reading of netLibrary ebooks on devices supported by the Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader software. However, libraries wishing to provide the offline reading capability must purchase a "Gateway License." The cost of the "Gateway License" has not been announced, but netLibrary is promising more information by the end of September.
